Past the appointment time, still 15 people ahead of me, oof
All done, the clerk didn't read the court order closely enough the first time through and thought I was getting the car from a nonexistent ex-husband instead of just getting the name updated so there was some genuinely really funny confusion to sort through
"And you'll just need him to sign this form, do you think you can get that done today?" was the line that clued me in, finally, to the disconnect
like yeah no problem I can get that done right here at the window lmao
(thankfully once the confusion was sorted through none of these forms were actually necessary)
Shame it was a government building and sometimes people don't have a sense of humor or I would have broken out the "oh no he's dead I killed him" line
@alli I had to sign some financial documents on monday to get some incredibly old investments changed to my actual name *years* after i should have, and they apologised profusely that it had to be my old signature (ostensibly because the court order was "old"). I found it terribly amusing, like I really don't care how I sign it! Really! Just so long as i stop getting mail to my deadname it's fine!
